- On or about 22-Jan-96 13:30:50 Timothy McCaffrey typed the following words
- about "Problems with PPP 1_30". My reply is thus...
-
-
- TM> If anyone can help I'd greatly appreciate it.
-
- TM> I recently tried to install both AmiTCP and PPP V1_30 (eval) to my
- TM> system for use with the local university's PPP accounts. I've followed
- TM> the documentation as closely as I can and yet I can't seem to get things
- TM> working right.
-
- TM> As it stands now when I initiate the startnet command, PPP 1_30 opens
- TM> the serial port no problem, gets the modem to dial, connects and issues
- TM> the login sequence for my account and then the dialer window closes.
- TM> Presumably the rest of the startnet script is supposed to execute at
- TM> that point. What happens, though, is the PPP program passes some data
- TM> over the modem connection a couple of times and then quits with the
- TM> following error message:
-
- TM> S2_ONLINE: Device driver is offline (Unit is currently offline)
- TM> AmiTCP:bin/online failed returncode 10
-
- TM> Without ever starting AmiTCP. No log files seem to be made telling me
- TM> what's going wrong and the error code above is no help. Anyone have any
- TM> ideas?
-
- TM> Thanks.
-
- After you installed everything, did you follow the instructions in the PPP
- docs and change the appropriate lines in your startnet script? Look in the
- PPP.guide under installation.
